This listing is for a handmade journal sewn in the long stitch style with white waxed linen thread, which is durable and strong. The pages are my high quality handmade paper, which is made in house in Ashland, Wisconsin from recycled materials. The long stitch binding of this journal allows the book to lay completely flat when open, creating its own flat surface for use away from a desk.

The cover was made by covering archival book board with grey handmade recycled paper, and rustic plant fiber paper, both of which were made by me in my studio. I strive to waste as little as possible, so every bit of handmade paper is used or recycled into a new batch or used for collages, cards, and tags.

All of the pages and end pages are my own handmade recycled paper. I carefully select the papers I intend to recycle to make my handmade paper, as some materials commonly recycled to make homemade paper have themselves been recycled so many times that they have essentially no fiber content and are overloaded with inks and dyes. The materials I use are selected to create a versatile paper that is soft to the touch, easily worked with, and eco friendly. Each sheet of paper used in these pages is inspected individually at several stages to insure there are no holes, weak spots, wrinkles, or other flaws.

Paper acidity:
The white, white thread, and off white floral papers are made from 100% office, notebook, and printer papers. These varieties test as acid free when using a Lineco pH Testing pen.
